These are amounts that go directly to the government and grid operator. Only the effective energy costs are intended for your energy supplier. Those suppliers also often charge a fixed cost, but how important does that actually weigh?

What are the fixed costs of an energy supplier?

Amounts? These are very diverse and differ from energy supplier to energy supplier. This often involves a few dozen euros per month. Not insurmountable, but the annual cost is still worth comparing.

A catch? 

Many suppliers charge the total administration costs at the start of your contract. In this way they make switching to another supplier less interesting and they try to block the way to the exit somewhat.

In practice, however, it appears that you can often save a multiple of this administrative cost by switching anyway. The rates between different energy suppliers can differ from hundreds to even several thousand euros, depending on the consumption of your company. In that case, the administration costs do not weigh in at all. And this applies to both electricity and natural gas.

Low prices

At the moment, many energy suppliers charge low prices anyway, so you can take advantage of that. Switching energy suppliers can be hugely rewarding and a comparison never hurts.
